Hydrotherapy for dogs

Leading treatment for dogs with arthritis and canine osteoarthritis

Hydrotherapy is the leading treatment for the rehabilitation of dogs with arthritis and canine osteoarthritis, as well as post-surgery rehabilitation, for weight loss, soft tissue injuries, conditioning of show dogs and dogs competing in sports, or for general fitness.

The hydotherapy module uses the buoyancy of the water to provide low weight bearing exercise in a safe and controlled environment using a set of precise movements tailored to suit the dog’s physiology and limitations.

Advantages of hydrotherapy for dogs

Hydrotherapy uses water to help rehabilitate injuries, restore mobility, strengthen muscles and to also relieve pain. It’s especially beneficial for dogs who have injuries such as a torn ACL, hip dysplasia, degenerative joint disease, arthritis / canine osteoarthritis, or dogs who have been paralysed or lost a limb.

Hydrotherapy uses buoyancy, resistance, viscosity, and hydrostatic pressure to help a dog move the injured joints they are trying to rehabilitate. This type of therapy works essentially by providing weightless physical therapy and removing the added pressure of gravity.

The buoyancy of water reduces the stress on your pup’s joints as they try to recover from their condition. This type of therapy also acts as a natural anti-inflammatory due to its ability to reduce swelling in body tissues.
